The ambiance was lively, with traditional decor and mesmerizing music. But the real star of the show was the food – our Shamburak was absolutely divine! Delicious food here! I can’t peg exactly which Mediterranean cuisine their menu is, however I can tell you that the food here is spectacular. Robust flavors, delicious food, and above all… FRESH! One thing that stands out is that their bread (which they call “frena”) is made in house and it comes out steaming hot from this huge brick oven! My wife and I have been to their location in ארץ ישראל more than once and have enjoyed it immensely. So I had a day off today and we decided to try there TOMS RIVER location. They did not disappoint. My wife ordered a shepherds pie and I ordered 2 different shamburak. WOW WOW WOW. 1. The food came out very quickly. 2. The portions size where huge. 3. The Shepard pie had a ton of pulled meat in it. Not just a lot of mashed potatoes and a little meat. Just the opposite. Oh the the mashed potatoes it's self where banging. 4. My shamburak were stuffed with meat and very tasty. We only ordered 1 dessert and that hit the spot. Hot chocolate fudge cake. You can't beat that. The atmosphere is very israeli relaxing. And I even enjoyed the music. The only knock is the spicy mayo. But after speaking to the floor manager and he explained to me that it's a lakewood thing. I’m one to like something a bit different without compromising on quality. Found a an experience that represents this. The atmosphere contributes to the excellent food. Would travel back out of state to come here again.

I had a great experience tonight. From the first moment the service was impeccable! Everything from the decor to the music to the friendly staff made me feel comfortable and welcome. Ishtabach is a vacation to a great place right here in our backyard. Even the owner came over to check on how we liked the food. The food was AMAZING!! The whole menu is uniquely inspiring. The food came out in a timely and orderly fashion. The portions were large and flavored to perfection. I definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a great eating experience. Thank you to all the staff for making a regular night spectacular!!
